For More Information: Yoga Gives Back Website

The word Ashtanga is comprised of two Sanskrit words, “Ashta” and “Anga.” “Ashta” refers to the number eight, while “Anga” means limb or body part. Therefore, Ashtanga is the union of the eight limbs of yoga, into one complete, holistic system. These eight-limbs of yoga represent the various branches of the philosophy of the yoga sutras that form the foundation in the Ashtanga Yoga School.

Ashtanga is a very dynamic and athletic form of hatha yoga, made up of six series or levels, with a fixed order of postures. It is rooted in vinyasa, the flowing movements between postures, with a focus on energy and breath. While it is a very physical practice, it also promotes mental clarity and inner peace.

March Madness Yoga Challenge

March 1st - March 22nd

March Madness Special | 22 Days of Unlimited Yoga ( Vaild only thru 03/01 - 03/22) | $70

or Use your Unlimited Membership

What does this mean? It means starting on March 1st thru March 22nd we want to encourage you to commit to a daily practice. The benefits of a daily practice cannot be understated. Giving yourself the time to be present, come to your mat, and breathe translates into less anxiety, increased productivity, and a host of other advantages. There are also the obvious physical benefits including increased strength, flexibility, and bodily awareness.

YOU CAN DO IT! IT’S FOR EVERYONE AND EVERY LEVEL, FROM BEGINNERS TO SEASONED VETERANS.

If you are a once-a-week practitioner, this might feel like a huge leap, but you can do it! Pace yourself. Doing yoga everyday does not mean you should hurt yourself! Try taking classes you have never done before to achieve a balanced practice. Test your progress with a Vinyasa Flow and then the next day try a slower-paced, grounding Flow & Restore. We also offer Slow Flow which allows you to move more deliberately and Yin Yoga which is a gentle class designed to help you unwind after a stressful day.

We also want to mention the more intangible benefits of a 20 Day Challenge: community and friendship. As adults, it gets harder and harder to make and meet new friends outside of work. There is nothing like the friends you make at your local yoga studio. When you start doing your challenge, you will meet the regular faces and members of your Farmington Community! They will keep you accountable for showing up. They will know when you’re not feeling well and when you’ve had a great day! We offer a chance to track your progress on our poster board in studio.

WHAT DO YOU WIN?
Yes, the reward is the journey but who doesn’t like a little motivation?

If you attend 20/22 classes you will receive:
20% off of your next class package or one-month unlimited.
One-year unlimited members may claim a $15 discount on any event or workshop in studio.
 ---

Signing up to participate is easy. Just write your name on our progress poster in studio.

See you on the mat!

Rules | Workshops classes will count towards challenge.
You are allowed to take two classes in one day but must be one morning and one evening, no two classes may be taken consecutively.

SoulFul Yin Yoga + Sound Bath w/Jay Jay & Katie

This special 90-minute Yin Yoga & Sound Bath session led by Jay Jay & Katie will truly be a journey of surrender.

Yin Yoga poses are designed to open up the body through long holds – typically between 1 to 5 minutes in length. This style of yoga will help put both your body and mind in a state of deep relaxation.

During the live sound bath with Crystal Singing Bowls, your brain will move into the deeper brainwave frequencies that will help induce meditative and peaceful states to allow for clarity of mind and relaxation. Some of the many benefits of sound meditation include: improved sleep; a deep sense of tranquility; reduction of stress and anxiety, and relief from depression and emotional pain.

Techniques used throughout this special class will guide you into a meditative state, allowing you to release, let go and surrender. If you have never experienced a yin class or sound meditation, even better! You are in for an incredible experience.

Beginner's Yoga Workshop + 2 Weeks Unlimited

The most common thing we hear at the studio is that new students feel uncomfortable not knowing the basics and going into class feeling "blind."

We get that! This workshop will go over in great detail the common postures that show up in (almost) every class. The foundational vinyasa poses, and warriors. We will leave some time for relaxation, savasana, and questions.

As an added bonus students who attend this workshop will receive 2 weeks of unlimited classes at the studio so they can put their newfound skills into work.

**The two weeks unlimited begins the day following the workshop and runs consecutively. You cannot pause or delay the 2 weeks. If you have taken this workshop before and received the 2 weeks unlimited you are not eligible to take it again.

*Please book confidently. There are no refunds for workshops, trainings, or special events.

Intersensory Adjustments: Vision + Touch with Giustina Easton

“Seeing is touch at a distance” said Ida Rolf. The way we hold and move our body in space can tell our story if we listen closely. There are a variety of factors that influence posture and movement: daily activities, cultural conditioning, emotional landscape, patterns of thought, and lived history. More often than not, we are unintentional and habitual with the way we move. We can, however, cultivate multisensorial integration to expand and attune the practice by developing a skillful eye and ethically grounded touch.

In this immersion, we will utilize the vision to address postural patterns, and develop informed touch to receive sensory-somatic information and apply embodied adjustments. In developing these skills, we work to “unhold” by addressing the root cause of common deviations in the yoga practice, as well as possible causes of pain and dysfunction both on and off the mat. This work allows us apply body-minded adjustments to address subconsciously conditioned movement patterns, and develop greater depth of understanding and inner awareness.

  • All hours with Giustina are and bankable toward Katonah Yoga® Certification
