Harvest Moon Yoga with Gongs

The Harvest Moon is the name given to the full moon that takes place closest to the autumnal equinox. The moon is an ancient symbol representing the half of human nature that receives and reflects the energies that surround us, in much the same way that the light of the moon is sunlight bouncing off of its surface. The goal of this class is to recognize this important aspect of human nature and how we can translate the idea into our practice.

Join instructor Katie in practicing the Moon Salutation series @ Shiawassee Park. Whereas the Sun Salutation series brings vitality to the mind and body in a very active way, the Moon Salutation series of poses revitalizes the body in a more relaxed and soothing way akin to our Yin practice.

The latter half of class will consist of a Gong Sound Bath led by Holly in which three gongs are skillfully played while you lie back and relax. Experience the vibrations of the gongs as you shed the stress of everyday life. Science proves that deep tones and vibrations of the gong can increase circulation, relax the nervous system and guide you into a state of deep relaxation and bliss.

Free for members or $15 drop-ins for nonmembers. Tips suggested for Gong Master Holly.
