The word Ashtanga is comprised of two Sanskrit words, “Ashta” and “Anga.” “Ashta” refers to the number eight, while “Anga” means limb or body part. Therefore, Ashtanga is the union of the eight limbs of yoga, into one complete, holistic system. These eight-limbs of yoga represent the various branches of the philosophy of the yoga sutras that form the foundation in the Ashtanga Yoga School. The Ashtanga philosophy is to integrate all of the eight limbs of yoga, which include: Yama (moral codes), Niyama (self-discipline), Asana (posture), Pranayama (breath control), Pratyahara (sense withdrawal), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi (oneness with the self).

The most common thing we hear at the studio is that new students feel uncomfortable not knowing the basics and going into class feeling "blind."
We get that! This workshop will go over in great detail the common postures that show up in (almost) every class. The foundational vinyasa poses, and warriors. We will leave some time for relaxation, savasana, and questions.
As an added bonus students who attend this workshop will receive 2 weeks of unlimited classes at the studio so they can put their newfound skills into work.
**The two weeks unlimited begins the day following the workshop and runs consecutively. You cannot pause or delay the 2 weeks. If you have taken this workshop before and received the 2 weeks unlimited you are not eligible to take it again.
*Please book confidently. There are no refunds for workshops, trainings, or special events.

Shiatsu massage is a type of deep-tissue massage that is based on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Practitioners use their hands to manipulate pressure points and energy meridians to balance the body’s energy flow. Shiatsu practitioners believe this manipulation can help with pain relief, stress reduction, relaxation, and improved sleep.
Shiatsu massage may benefit people who want to address specific health problems such as high blood pressure or diabetes because it helps relax tight muscles in the neck and shoulders. Reusi Dat Ton is a personal care system that was developed from the methods of practitioners from North India to Thailand. Reusi Dat Ton is an investigation, relaxation, and stimulation of the body, it’s tendons, ligaments, nerves, blood, tissue and pathways. Within this tradition, we practice chanting, breathing techniques, face massage, postures, meditations, and daily habits of safe keeping.
These techniques allow for healthy adjustments to one's digestion, breathing, mental states, and help to strengthen and open the flexibility of the physical body. In this workshop, techniques and postures are approached with incredible detail, allowing for deep learning and clarity. Adjustments and modifications are suggested along the way so that each student can work within their comfort range.
For those studying Thai massage, RDT is the root of our massage practice, and through studying it, we are able to better understand anatomy, physiology and kinesiology and medical sciences from the Thai perspective. With this understanding, our massage becomes clearer, our view of the medicine more accurate, and our bodies more conducive to continue working into old age.

Cacao (ka-kow) is a Sacred and Medicinal plant and an ancient teacher and facilitator that assists you with the journey into your heart. Cacao was known to the Ancient Mayans as a powerful heart opener and potent healer.
Chocolate is widely known as an aphrodisiac and this understanding of how it opens our hearts is by no means new. The Aztecs often spoke of Cacao as ‘yollotl, eztli’, meaning “heart, blood”. Western science reinforced this by giving it the scientific name Theobroma Cacao, which means “The Food of the Gods”. What else would the food of the Gods be but love?
Raw cacao is also the most powerful antioxidant in the world, and is the ONLY known food where you will find therapeutic levels of magnesium and the chemical Anandamide, aka the LOVE chemical. (In Sanskrit, Ananda is translated as ‘bliss’) It results in feelings of pleasure and euphoria and also plays a role in moderating pain perception and memory of pain as well as improving consciousness and creativity as it increases blood flow to the heart and brain by up to 40%.
Cacao, when used with awareness, gives us time and space away from the busyness of the world & an opportunity to go on our own inward journey. Cacao is a gentle plant medicine, acting as a vasodilator on the smooth cardiac tissue, so literally it helps to open our heart. As the anatomical heart space is opened, it creates an opportunity for our energic heart to open as well, offering us an doorway into the places deep within where healing is needed; but it will not push us through until we're ready.
Kundalini Yoga is an ancient technology that is designed to expand awareness and tap into our infinite potential. Kundalini Yoga balances the glandular system and enables us to harness the energy of the mind and emotions.
This practice also balances the chakra system and opens the heart center allowing the practitioner to move through obstacles on many levels. Kundalini Yoga uses physical movement, breath-work, meditation and mantra to achieve an experience of our highest consciousness.
The combination of Cacao Ceremony and Kundalini Yoga is perfect for diving deep inside and unleashing our own raw energy, so we can experience the bliss of who we really are: pure love and pure consciousness!
