Many young women and girls deal with a number of difficult issues, from body image concerns and low self-esteem to pressures in school and finding a voice among their peers. Presenting yoga as a way to explore individuality helps teens feel that something is within their control.
Starting in September, we'll be hosting a recurring yoga series for girls and young teens ages 13-18 years old. Middle and high school students are able to learn practical life skills through the use of introspective yoga and mindfulness themes. Students will discover what it means to establish balance on and off the mat, create strength, build endurance, expand self-awareness, and cultivate empathy & compassion towards themselves and others. They will come to understand firsthand the relationship between stress and attention as their ability to focus improves and their stress levels decline.
The class will begin with a discussion of the theme, followed by mindful breathing techniques, asana instruction, guided rest, exploratory exercises in yoga journaling, and engaged discussions for applying yoga & mindfulness in everyday life.
The cost of attendance for the entire six-class program will be $75 OR $15 for a single class. Class size is limited to just 14 students per class. Class will be taught every Monday from 4pm-5:30pm starting September 23rd and ending on October 28th.
